Dima - Empty
An interesting release from Surge in Dima tune "Empty" stacked with a raw and analogue feel to it. Not the safest tune on the block but it has a nice depth to it, unconventional sound choice, its dance with a melodic edge, might only be the odd bass note but still maybe something a little special, worth a few listens to give this fair judgement.
The Balzan Stereo mix moves in with more attitude and energy, riding on a nice bass it filters in and out gliding you around in the process, it has some nice atmosphere to this and some hard and aggressive dancing with definately be done to this one.
The Neos Deos mix is a sweep of progressive glows, major to minors and modest beats, this is again a tune that is worth a second listen and well thought out and great groover.
Serge Blake Darkness Remix is strictly where progressive is adding subtle and jazzy piano in places, this mix speaks of musical maturity the fusing of the repetitive to the played-in feel is a sweet one.
Ed Buzzerk is the baddest of the pack and immediately caught my attention as it steps out to get noticed, it flows in simplicity and has a real attitude about it.
Lets take nothing away from this release, the label has taken a chance as alot of labels play safe and follow the giants on these such releases, this one hasnt and in this step offers something a little out of the ordinary. Who knows we might even see further tunes following this theme in the future.
The best of luck with this release, a refreshing change it was to listen too.

Dj Dorian - Phonic Tools EP
Call back starts off with a melodic melody quickly to be accompanied by a progressive trance like production. With pulsating kicks and elongated synths, its easy to see this get played late night in any club. A elementary stab arrangement during the break coincides with the original melody and brings hint of stereotypical club trance in to play. Littered with several small builds Dorian keeps the track moving although never really breaking from the original formula making it a bit redundant.
The B side offers a " Special Version " remix that carries the same vibe although gets right to it with a more electro-esqe orientated rework of the drum production and bassline. The melody is slightly rendered and demonstrates more versatility than the original. Less breaks in the remix but one epic break is cast in their providing the euphoric vibe that will sure to stimulate the masses with its rolling kicks and escalating melody that falls on top of Dorian's electrified bass.
A good release if you are looking for something for the club...it is produced well for what I believe Dorian wanted to achieve.
